About Us
From Nick Le Souëf's first trip to the opal fields at the age of 19, Lightning Ridge Opal Mines has developed into one of Australia's most highly regarded Opal businesses. Family owned and operated, Jonas and Atheka work to bring you Australia's most beautiful opals. Opal miners and cutters for over 40 years, most of our opals are hand-cut in-store by Jonas.
Our aim is to educate our customers so that they can make an informed choice when purchasing an opal.Visitors to our showroom will be given an in-depth Opal lesson which includes their classification and valuation, as well as cutting and polishing demonstrations.
